Oak Crest researchers have just published a groundbreaking article in the prestigious journal Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy. The manuscript describes a novel, multipurpose pod-intravaginal ring (IVR) that has the potential of simultaneously protecting from sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancy.
The report is the first of its kind as it describes in vivo results from an IVR delivering 3 antiretroviral drugs in combination with 2 hormonal contraceptives. No other report has described a vaginal ring capable of releasing more than 2 drugs!
