One of our senior faculty members, Dr. Marianne Smith, was recently presented the annual Presidential Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMAN) award at the White House. This prestigious award, established by President Bill Clinton in 1995, recognizes exceptional mentoring of groups historically underrepresented in STEM sectors and the STEM workforce.
Dr. Smith was recognized for her outstanding work with underrepresented and underserved students during her tenure as Director of the Institute of Completion at Citrus College in Glendora. At Oak Crest, our faculty have worked closely with her to mentor students pursuing degrees in STEM subjects, and we are thrilled that she has joined our faculty to continue supporting students in their career paths. We are especially proud of the recognition that the PAESMAN Award brings.
We congratulate Marianne for her prestigious award recognizing her leadership and academic excellence.
